The title to this posting is meant as a tweak to those who use the term “birther” in a pejorative sense. I personally thought it was pretty clever.
Mr. Trump was on the radio yesterday with talk show host Laura Ingraham. He raised the specter that maybe Mr. Obama might have “Muslim” somehow on his birth certificate as a reason for why he’s not showing his long-form certificate (in all fairness, I didn’t think religious affiliation was on a birth certificate; it isn’t on my children’s certificates).
Mr. Trump also went on about how he’s “proud” to be a “birther” and essentially thinks it’s ridiculous (as I do) that those who disagree with the eligibility question attempt to stifle or even shut down the debate by using the term as a pejorative.
He also went on to say that he’s “taking no heat” for discussing the subject, that others are afraid to say anything about it because they don’t want to be labeled anything bad, and that he’s less sure today than he was two weeks ago of whether or not (1) Mr. Obama even has a birth certificate (as in, the long-form) or (2) Mr. Obama was born in the United States:
